The Sandia Mountains, so named for the deep red hue that they reflect from the setting sun are a brilliant and commanding part of the Albuquerque landscape. Locals navigate by the mountains, recreate in the mountains, and love the mountains.

When the mood comes the Sandias can change from their famous deep red to a somber and sulky grey, pouting under a cloud of fog rolling off the tops, dragging snow clouds behind.

Even when the Sandias are in a bad mood, they are sill beautiful.
