The Impossible Project Silver Shade is a black and white film that feels almost like a bit of wonder trapped on paper. It’s as if you can almost feel the light stopped, the photons coming to a halt and held captive for us to look at. The print itself feels thick and real — almost like vinyl but in a good way — recalling that age not long past when books and photos and music were things we held in our hands. The surface is glossy, the color somewhere between true black-and-white and a deep brown sepia that fills my heart with childlike glee.
My second round of pictures are better because I was starting to get the exposure down. They’re still a little dark or a little fuzzy.
