In Albuquerque one need not leave town to go into the country. In the middle of town rests the Albuquerque Bosque along the Rio Grande River. People raise animals and grow produce along the flood plain. There is also a small wildlife preserve where cranes, ducks and geese come during the winter.
Taking pictures of any wild animals is a test of patience and timing. These birds seemed to know what I was doing and would lazily turn and float downstream or step behind a bush whenever I got my camera out. One goose spread its wings for me as if shooing me away and I just happened to be ready.
